Bradley Charles Cooper (born January 5, 1975) is an American actor and filmmaker. He has been nominated for many awards, including four Academy Awards, two Grammy Awards, and a Tony Award. Cooper appeared on Forbes Celebrity 100 on two occasions and the Time list of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2015. His films have earned $ 7.8 billion worldwide and he was named one of the highest paid actors in the world for three years.
Cooper enrolled in the MFA program at Actors Studio at The New School in 2000. His career began in 1999 with a guest role in the television series Sex and the City. He made his film debut two years later in Wet Hot American Summer comedy. He first gained recognition as Will Tippin on the spy action television show Alias (2001-2006), and achieved small success with supporting parts in the comedy film Wedding Crashers (2005). His breakthrough role came in 2009 with The Hangover, a commercially successful and critical comedy, which spawned two sequels in 2011 and 2013. Cooper's depiction of a writer who fought in Limitless thriller (2011) and a budding police officer in The criminal drama The Place Beyond the Pines (2012) received praise from critics.
Cooper found greater success with the romantic comedy Silver Linings Playbook (2012), American Hustle black comedy crime film (2013), and American war biography Sniper (2014), which he also produced. For his work in these films, he was nominated for four Academy Awards, becoming the tenth actor to receive an Oscar nomination in three consecutive years. In 2014, he played Joseph Merrick during the Broadway revival at The Elephant Man, collecting nominations for the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Game. That year, he also voiced Rocket Raccoon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In 2018, Cooper directed his first film with the musical romantic drama A Star Is Born, in which he also starred with top singer Lady Gaga as the opponent.
He also contributed to the number one writing, production, and soundtrack to the US Billboard 200. The main single "Shallow" topped the charts in seven countries and has been nominated for several awards. This song was successfully sung perfectly by Cooper and Gaga. Gaga and Cooper earned two Grammy nominations for the song—Record of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.
Actress Jennifer Esposito is one of the women who were close to Cooper and became his wife. In October 2006, Cooper became engaged to Esposito. The couple married later that December. In May 2007, Esposito filed for a divorce that was finalized in November. He has been in a relationship with Irina Shayk since 2015, with whom he has a daughter. He supports several organizations that help people fight cancer.
